Desolation Wilderness is well known for its nearly 64,000 acres of granite beauty and more than 130 alpine lakes.
Each night is spent on the shores of one of these beautiful Alpine lakes.
The first day of this trip is very challenging as we begin at Lower Echo Lake and head straight up the granite trail. First stop is Aloha lake. Swimming and beauty abound. Although our trail leaders have an idea of each nights camp location, it’s not uncommon for the group to select a new destination. Our last night is always spent at Tamarack Lake so that Trekkers can experience their final trek dinner with an amazing view.
The final day of hiking is a breeze as Trekkers are excited to see their parents and join the entire group for post trip ice cream
* All Trekkers must attend a 4 hour gear, safety and group meet on Friday, June 11 from 1:30 AM to 4:30 PM
*All food and some gear is included with this trip.
*This trip is limited to 6th. 7th or 8th graders age 11-13.
*One Way Transportation to the trailhead on day one is included in trip fees.
*Trekkers must be picked up at the trailhead exit point by their parent/guardian on Friday, June 18 at 2 PM. (9274 Echo Lakes Rd, Echo Lake, CA 95721)
Trail leaders for this trip are Herb Repp and his oldest daughter Marlee. They have been backpacking together since Marlee was 6 years old.
